Edward Brown

Edward Brown served in the 6th United States Colored Troops with Company H, from August 21, 1863 to December 15, 1864. He was born on July 4, 1843 in Edington, North Carolina to unknown parents.1 The "1850 United States Federal Census for Edward Brown" shows Edward Brown at age seven living in Cape Fear North East Side, Bladden, North Carolina.2 This record also shows that he was attending school and living with three other children - Mary C Brown (10 years old), James Brown (7 years old), and Margaret A Brown (2 years old).3 A paper titled, "Mary E.

David Butler

David Butler was born in Welsh Run, Pennsylvania on July 4,1834 to John and Elizabeth Butler - both born in Marlyland, USA.1 Butler spent his early life as a farmer, but in 1863, he joined the United States Colored Troops, enlisting in the 54th Massachusetts Infantry.

John Carter

John Carter served in the 127th regiment with Company I. He was born in about 1844 (unknown birthplace) to unknown parents.1 There are no census records, military records, pension records, or death certificate records for him. However, there is a death certificate record for his mother, Katherine Henson Carter, and a tombstone photograph for John Carter.

George H. Frazer

Obituary Tuesday 10/22/1907 pg. 4 in the Evening Sentinel. Served in the 1st Regimenent of the United States Colored Troops, and was a longtime resident of Carlilse. Frazer was a member of the local AME church, and had a wife and seven children. 

John Green

John Green served in the 54th United States Colored Regiment with Company H. The "1850 United States Federal Census for John Green" states that an individual named John Green was born around 1833 in Pennsylvania.However, it is uncertain whether this John Green also served in the United States Colored Troops.

Patrick Henry

Patrick Henry was born in 1846 in Chambersburg, PA. Henry enlisted in the 45th Regiment of the United States Colored Troops on July 23rd, 1864 in Chambersburg, under Captain Eyster. At the end of the war, Henry moved to Carlisle and worked as a laborer. Henry married "Mrs. Patrick Henry" and became a member of the Bethel Church.Henry died on May 14th, 1918 at his house on 155 Dickinson Ave. from a paralytic stroke, and is buried at Union Cemetery.

William H. Jackson

William Jackson, son of Henry Jackson and Pheobie Gaines, was born in Pennsylvania in 1831. Jackson enlisted in the 127th Regiment of the United States Colored Troops around 1864, but little is known about his military service. Post War- Jackson settled in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. According to the 1870 census he was illiterate, worked as a coal miner and was married. At the age of 85 on April 9th, 1916, Jackson died due to chronic interstitial nephritis, and was buried at Union Cemetery in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
