Cumberland County has been the home of thousands of individuals and organizations. Each has contributed to its history in ways both small and large. The Gardner Digital Library collects these stories in the Memory Bank. From Oral Histories of locals experiences in World War II to serving local civic organizations to growing up in Carlisle, Silver Springs Township, the West Shore, or Shippensburg, the Memory Bank is a place where the collected stories of Cumberland County can be shared and engaged with to present a fuller history of the County.

Randall Adams

Dennis Akin

Interview of Dennis Akin for the Elizabeth V. and George F. Gardner Digital Library Memory Bank. Akin discusses his early life growing up in Iowa as well as his Naval Service in the Korean War, and his career as a professor of Art at Dickinson College. Akin also discusses his views on art and some of the artistic works he has created over the years.

Crea Arnold

Arnold discusses the Second Presbyterian Church in Carlisle as well as her experiences working at Cochran and Allen among other changes in Carlisle over time.

Muamer Avdic

Muamer Avdic  was born in Bosnia in 1991 and left the country with his family not long after that, immigrating to Germany. They eventually made their way to the United States in 1998, settling first in Washington D.C. and then moving to Carlisle.

Clyde Barr

Interview of Clyde Barr for the Elizabeth V. and George F. Gardner Digital Library. Barr discusses his time as the Band Director for the Carlisle High School Band as well as his involvement with the band following his departure.

Lyn Barr

Interview of Lyn Barr for the Elizabeth V. and George F. Gardner Digital Library. Barr discusses her involvement with the Carlisle High School Band as the wife of former director Clyde Barr. Further she recounts her time as the parent of children who were involved with the band and helping to arrange trips across the country and world for various bands.

Ron Baughman

Interview of Ron Baughman for the Elizabeth V. and George F. Gardner Digital Library Memory Bank. Baughman discusses growing up in the village of Bloserville in Upper Frankford Township. Baughman's father owned one of two general stores in Bloserville and he also talks about attending a two room school house before moving to the Big Spring School District school and his career as a photographer.

Ron Baughman

Part 2 of an interview with Ron Baughman for the Elizabeth V. and George F. Gardner Digital Library Memory Bank. Baughman follows up on some of the charcters who spent time at his father's store in Bloserville, PA and his grandfathers who served in World War I.
