Lemoyne

Early settlement of Lemoyne began in 1724 when John Kelso and his ferrying partner and putative relative John Harris built a stone house at the east end of the future borough. In 1750, Thomas Penn officially named the settlement "Manor of Lowther." After the completion of the Camelback bridge in 1815, the settlement was named "Bridgeport," while the area south of Market Street was called "Riverton."
