Robert Chargo

Robert Chargo served in Company A of the 8th U.S.C.T. He was born around 1833 in Virginia, to his father Harry Charger and his mother Matilda Castain.1 Nothing else is known about his life before the military. According to his obituary, he was originally a part of the Confederate army, and then deserted to enlist in the Union. He enlisted in June of 1863, and was discharged in December of 1866, as a Lieutenant.

Enoch S. Cook

Enoch S. Cook served in the U.S.C.T., and according to registration records it is likely he enlisted around July 1, 1863.1 He was born in Virginia, married Caroline cook, and lived in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Nothing else is known about his life at this time. He is buried in Lincoln Cemetery, Pennsylvania.2

John George Peck

John George Peck served in the 25th United States Colored Troops with Company I. He was born around 1836 in Rockingham County, Virginia.1  Before he enlisted into the 25th U.S. Colored Troops, he did labor work in Frederick County, Virginia.2 He had the following physical characteristics: black hair, black eyes, a dark colored complexion, and height of about five foot, ten.3 Before his enlistment, he was believed to be a free man. At 30 years old, on February 3, 1864, he enlisted in the 25th U.S.

Jesse Tarlton

Jesse Tarlton was born somewhere in Virginia around 1824.[1] Nothing else is known of his life prior to his service in the Union Army. His name is sometimes spelled “Tarlton” and sometimes “Talton.” He was drafted into Company K of the 31st USCT in Washington D.C. on October 31, 1864. He had been working as a Laborer.
