Eli Anderson

Eli Anderson was born on November 27, 1838, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. His mother, Catharine Woods, was born in Cumberland County, his father, whose name is unknown, was born in Virginia.1 He enlisted in Company I of the 10th U.S.C.T.

Ransome E. Babcock

Ransome Babcock served in Company B of the 21st U.S.C.T. Regiment, in New York. His date of birth and his life before his enlistment is unknown, but he was discharged on November 14, 1865, due to the end of the Civil War.1 He passed away in Monroe Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1894, and is buried in Lincoln Cemetery, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.2

John D. Berry

John D. Berry served in the 5th Massachusetts Cavalry from January 11, 1864 to December 9, 1864. He was born in about 1822 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He had a colored complexion and stood five foot, nine inches.1 At about 42 years old, he enlisted into the United States Colored Troops in Somerville, Somerset County, Massachusetts by Mr.

Samuel Kelley

Samuel Kelley served with Company G of the 44th U.S.C.T. He was born around 1844 in Cherokee, Alabama, and was working as a farmer before he joined the military. He enlisted as a private in Rome, Georgia, at twenty years old, on July 30, 1864, and he was mustered out on August 6, 1864.

Alexander Ormstead

Alexander Ormstead served in the 127th U.S.C.T., with companies C and D. He was born around 1851 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, to unknown parents.1 He enlisted and was mustered into Company C of the 127th U.S.C.T. as a private on August 29, 1864, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and was transferred to Company D at some point during his time in service. He was 5 feet and 4 inches tall, with dark hair, eyes, and complexion.

George W. Riley

According to his headstone, George Riley was born around 1855. He served in the U.S.C.T., and lived in in the Cumberland County area. While it may not be the same person, a George Riley and his wife lost two young children to a house fire in 1880.1 He died on May 15, 1887, at the age of 32, and is buried in Lincoln Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.2

Jesse G. Thompson

Jesse G. Thompson was born around 1844, in Carlisle Pennsylvania, to parents Benjamin and Mary Thompson. In 1850 he was the youngest child in his household at six years old, with three older siblings named William, Richard, and Jane.1 In 1860 he was sixteen years old and working as a laborer, with two younger siblings named George and Mary.2 Thompson enlisted into Company A of the 32nd U.S.C.T. as a private, on February 17, 1864, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

John Wright

John Wright was born around 1828, most likely in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted with Company G of the 22nd U.S.C.T. on December 30, 1863, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and was mustered in on the same date.1 Whether or not he survived the war is unknown. He is buried in Lincoln Cemetery, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.2
