Ruth Hodge is an award-winning archivist, educator, and community activist who has furthered the advancement of African American and United States military history research and writing during the 20th and early 21st century. She has spent decades advocating for and telling the history of African Americans and worked tirelessly to make sure those stories were shared locally. Through her professional career, Mrs. Hodge also worked to make sure that military history included the stories of African Americans. Her dedicated work as an archivist also created guides for others to follow and do additional research. She authored the Guide to African American Resources at the Pennsylvania State Archives and continuously presses for the historical narrative to tell a fuller story and continues to advocate for the histories that have been long ignored.
